Dental Pain
Dental pain is most commonly caused by tooth decay resulting in a cavity. Occasionally, an abscess can form as well.
Common symptoms include:
- Tooth pain
- Pain when tapping tooth
- Hot/cold sensitivity
- Swelling or tenderness on the gum surrounding the tooth
- Facial swelling

Treatment of Dental Pain
If the pain is thought to be caused by infection, we will treat you with antibiotics and can prescribe non-narcotic pain medication. It is important to understand that even if your symptoms improve with antibiotics, you still need to be seen by a dentist for definitive care.
If there are other concerning factors, you may need a more comprehensive evaluation.
In some instances this can be performed by us through a video telemedicine visit and in some cases you will need an in person evaluation by a healthcare provider.
During your evaluation, we will assess the most appropriate level of care for you and provide you with the information and treatment you need to start feeling better.
