Sty

A sty is often characterized by a painful lump near the edge of your eyelid. It can be on the top or bottom lid.

Common symptoms can include:

  • A small painful bump near the edge of your eyelid
  • Eye irritation
  • Eyelid pain
  • Eye tearing

Treatment of Stys

In most cases, a sty will go away on its own. A warm compress several times a day can help with the discomfort. Occasionally, an antibiotic or a referral to an ophthalmologist may be necessary.

If there are other concerning factors, you may need a more comprehensive evaluation. In some instances this can be performed by us through a video telemedicine visit and in some cases you will need an in person evaluation by a healthcare provider. During your evaluation, we will assess the most appropriate level of care for you and provide you with the information and treatment you need to start feeling better.
