Treatment of Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis can be caused by both bacteria and viruses. It is often very contagious and is usually spread by coming in contact with secretions from the eyes. Most of the time conjunctivitis will resolve on its own, but sometimes you will need antibiotics.

In patients who are wearing contact lenses, it is important to temporarily stop wearing the contact lenses and eventually switch to a new pair and new case after the infection resolves.

We will individualize your therapy and prescribe treatment depending on the cause of your infection.

If there are other concerning factors, you may need a more comprehensive evaluation. In some instances, this can be performed by us through a video telemedicine visit, and in some cases, you will need an in-person evaluation by a healthcare provider. During your evaluation, we will assess the most appropriate level of care for you and provide you with the information and treatment you need to start feeling better.
