Treatment of Arthritis
The symptoms of osteoarthritis are due to wear and tear in your joint cartilage. The cartilage is like the cushion at the end of your bones where the joints are so the bones can slide smoothly. When the cartilage wears down from overuse as we get older that’s when the pain tends to become noticeable. Risk factors for arthritis include age, female gender, obesity, prior injury, overuse during your lifetime, and genetics to name a few. Treatment options include rest, ice, decreasing the load on the affected joint, and medications, and sometimes medications. It is important to determine what type of arthritis you may have. If you have a chronic arthritic condition, we can also refill your medication. We will evaluate your symptoms and help determine a course of action to help you feel better.
